Actress Yvonne Jegede has reacted to a viral sermon by Pastor Femi Lazarus, condemning his comments about women’s menstrual cycles, which many have described as dismissive and lacking empathy.
In the trending video, Pastor Lazarus suggested that women’s mood swings during menstruation stem from their attitude rather than biological or hormonal changes.
“You are not the first woman to see your period, so your menstruation is not the problem. I have never seen anywhere in the Bible any woman complain about menstrual pain. You are simply not a peaceful person,” he said.

Responding via her social media page, Yvonne Jegede urged men to avoid making statements about women’s bodies or experiences they cannot personally understand. She encouraged empathy and sensitivity when discussing women’s health issues.

She wrote: “Yesterday I saw a trending video of a clergyman seemingly trivialising menstrual pain.
“If you’ve never experienced the hormonal changes that women go through during their periods, ovulations and pregnancy, please don’t make bold statements about things you haven’t experienced. Men please be kind.”
Jegede’s response has been widely applauded by fans and women’s rights advocates, who commended her for speaking up against the insensitivity often shown toward women’s health concerns.
