Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has taken a swipe at fellow artist Davido after his latest project, Morayo, secured the position of Apple Music’s most-streamed album of 2025 in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Wizkid’s Morayo claimed the top spot ahead of Davido’s 5ive, which sits in second place. The development has stirred conversation online, especially because Davido had earlier bragged that his album would dominate all others released around the same period—remarks that many fans interpreted as a jab at Wizkid.

In Pidgin, Davido had declared, “Album go swallow album,” implying that his project would overshadow competing releases.
But following Apple Music’s ranking, Wizkid appeared to throw a counter-shade on social media. In a post interpreted as a direct response to Davido’s earlier boast, he wrote:
“Dem say album go swallow album dem dey ground dey smell now!”
Prompt News reports the comment has sparked fresh reactions from fans, with some expressing concern that it may rekindle the long-standing online rivalry between the two superstars.
As of now, Davido has not issued any response.
