Egypt head coach Mohamed Kamal has acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge awaiting his side as they prepare to take on reigning champions Nigeria in their final Group B fixture at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday night, Prompt News Online reports.
The Cleopatras head into the decisive encounter after suffering back-to-back defeats in the competition. They were thrashed 6-0 by Zambia in their opening match before falling 3-1 to Malawi in their second outing.
With no points from two games, Egypt’s hopes of reaching the quarter-finals hang by a thread.
Kamal’s team must secure a convincing victory over the Super Falcons and also rely on a favourable result in the other group fixture to stand any chance of advancing to the knockout stage.
Despite the uphill task facing his side, Kamal acknowledged Nigeria’s pedigree, hailing the Super Falcons as one of the standout teams at the tournament.
The Egyptian coach admitted that the nine-time African champions possess greater quality, depth, and experience, qualities he expects will play a significant role in determining the outcome of the contest.
“Nigeria is a huge African football nation. The majority of their players play in the best clubs in the world. This level of experience makes all the difference,” Kamal was quoted by CAFonline.
