Cameroon midfielder Monique Ngock has been crowned the Best Player of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a series of impressive displays at the tournament, Prompt News Online reports.
Malawi forward Temwa Chawinga also picked up a major individual honour, winning the Golden Boot in her country’s historic debut appearance at the continental showpiece.
Chawinga recorded five goals and two assists to finish ahead of Zambia’s Barbra Banda, Ivory Coast’s Ines Konan and Cameroon’s Marie Ngah, who also netted five times.
Chawinga’s two assists proved decisive in the race for the top scorer award.
Cameroon’s Michaely Bihina was rewarded for her outstanding performances between the posts with the Best Goalkeeper award.
The Benfica goalkeeper delivered some of her finest performances in the knockout stages, notably in the quarter-final against Nigeria and the semi-final clash with hosts Morocco.
Bihina proved instrumental in Cameroon’s victory over Morocco, saving a penalty towards the end of extra time before denying three more spot-kicks in the shootout to send the Indomitable Lionesses through to the final.
