Popular Nigerian activist, Verydarkman, has publicly criticized Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries following the cleric’s recent warning to bloggers and journalists reporting on him and his church.
In a video that surfaced online earlier, Pastor Ibiyeomie was seen issuing a stern caution to bloggers, warning them to stop publishing content about him.
The video quickly went viral and drew mixed reactions from the public.
Responding to the pastor’s remarks, Verydarkman took to social media to condemn the threat, accusing Ibiyeomie of attempting to misuse law enforcement to intimidate critics.
“You travel around the world—have you seen anyone using the police to arrest people just for talking?” the activist questioned. “It means you’re trying to use your influence to oppress others.”
He went on to challenge the legality of such actions in a democratic society, stating that in other countries, law enforcement would conduct proper investigations rather than act on personal influence.
“You can’t command the police, whether you’re influential or not.
That’s why I always say even religious leaders contribute to the problems in this country,” he added.
“No one fears you. Who are you that we should fear? You’re a human being like everyone else.”
The confrontation has sparked further debate online about the limits of influence, freedom of speech, and the role of religious leaders in public discourse.
