In order to keep youths of its immediate host communities gainfully engaged, Veritas University, Abuja will construct a multi-million Naira ultra-modern sports facility that will serve its host community of Zuma and other surrounding communities.

The Vice Chancellor of Veritas University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku disclosed this when he hosted the Councilor Representing Bwari Central Ward in the Bwari Area Council, Hon. Caleb Danladi.
According to the Vice Chancellor, there are lots of talented youths in the community whose energy needed to he directed to gainful ventures in order to keep them away from Crime.

“We have very many young men and women in our host community and the adjoining communities that we want to assist. One of the things we want to do as part of our corporate Social Responsibility is to construct an ultra-modern Sports complex for our host community that will serve other surrounding communities. We believe that when you engage youths through sports, they will not have too much time on their hands to engage in other negative things. As our Representative, I want you to liaise with the leaders of our community and the surrounding community to provide us a land that we can construct this legacy project. We will be happy as a University to do this for our host community” he said.

The Vice Chancellor informed the Councilor that Veritas University has embarked on several projects and Programmes for the host community and will continue to carry out its corporate Social Responsibilities diligently for the benefit of the host community.
He said apart from giving employment to members of the Host community about ten students from the Host Community are on full scholarship in the University.

“We believe that we need to empower young men and women from the Host community so that they too can become better members of the society. Presently, we have nine students from the host community are on full scholarship, studying different courses in the University. We will continue to provide scholarships within the context of availability of funds to the University” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the councilor representing Bwari Central ward in the Bwari Area Council, Hon Caleb Danladi said the visit was to familiarize himself with the university leadership and seek ways of cooperation and collaboration.

He thanked the Vice-chancellor for providing employment opportunities for members of the host community and promised that he will liaise with leaders of the host community as well as neighbouring communities to provide land for the construction of the sports facility promised by the Vice Chancellor
