Seyi Vibez’s popular track ‘Different Pattern’ has been taken down from YouTube following a copyright claim over unauthorized samples used in the song’s introduction.
The intro of the track incorporates elements from two late Nigerian music legends: highlife maestro Orlando Owoh and Apala pioneer Musiliu Haruna Ishola.
The takedown specifically references the unapproved use of Owoh’s material.
The song was a standout on Vibez’s EP NAHAMciaga, released in December 2023, which quickly went viral and reportedly became one of Nigeria’s most-streamed projects in 2024. The official video was removed from the platform in the early hours today.
‘Different Pattern’ was released under Vibez’s former record label, Dapper Music, from which he officially parted ways in September 2024 to operate under his own imprint, Vibez INC.
Known for blending classic Nigerian sounds with contemporary street music, Vibez has previously sampled iconic tracks, including gospel singer Sola Allyson’s Eji Owuro on his earlier project Billion Dollar Baby.
The development highlights ongoing challenges in the digital music era, where modern sampling practices often intersect with copyright law.

Orlando Owoh, who passed away in 2008, was a celebrated bandleader and highlife legend, while Musiliu Haruna Ishola, regarded as the father of Apala music, died in 1983 and is remembered for classic albums such as Oroki Social Club.
Prompt News reports as of now, neither Vibez nor his team have released an official statement regarding the YouTube takedown.
