A member of the Plateau State security outfit, Operation Rainbow, has vowed to ensure that those responsible for the killing of the organisation’s deputy commander, CSP David Babale, are brought to justice.
Babale was reportedly killed on Tuesday when gunmen ambushed a security team travelling to Barkin Ladi Local Government Area following intelligence about a planned attack during a mass burial.
In a tribute shared on Facebook, the officer described the late security chief as a father figure, mentor and leader, saying his death would not be allowed to go unanswered.
The officer said Babale was more than a superior to members of the team, describing him as a leader who protected his men and remained committed to defending residents of Plateau State.
He said the deceased officer died while confronting armed attackers and had paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
The officer wrote, “We gather with heavy hearts, not just to mourn a boss, but to honour a hero. CSP Dennis Babale did not just wear the uniform; he lived its meaning: honour, duty, courage.”
He further described Babale as a father, teacher and disciplinarian who cared deeply about the welfare of personnel under his command.
According to him, the late officer’s legacy would remain despite his death, adding that his courage and sacrifice would not be forgotten.
In another message, the grieving officer vowed to pursue those responsible for the killing, saying the incident had brought the violence affecting Plateau’s security personnel close to home.
He recalled previous attacks, including an incident at Panyam Fish Farm, describing the latest ambush in Barkin Ladi as another major loss for those defending communities in the state.

The officer also said the security personnel had a duty to confront armed groups threatening residents, while stating that ultimate judgment belonged to God.
