Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has challenged Nigeria to win every game in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign, Prompt News Online.
Eric Chelle’s side will begin their quest for a place at the AFCON 2027 finals with a home clash against Madagascar’s Barea on Friday.
The Group L encounter is scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with kick-off set for 5pm local time.
Speaking at a media parley in Uyo, Onyeka stressed the importance of starting the qualifiers on a positive note.
“Just like every other match that we’ll be playing, we have to win every game,” Onyeka said.
The Coventry midfielder also acknowledged the disappointment of Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but said the team must now shift its focus to the AFCON qualifiers.
“I know we’re quite disappointed not to qualify for the World Cup, but now we’re back. We have something to prepare for, which is the AFCON next year.”
