Nigerian youngster Zadok Yohanna has completed a permanent move to Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion from Swedish side AIK, Prompt News Online reports.
The highly-rated winger signed a five-year contract with the Seagulls after attracting interest from fellow Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Chelsea.
Yohanna impressed during his brief spell with AIK, registering two goals and three assists in seven league appearances this season.
The 18-year-old joined AIK from Ikon Allah Academy last year and quickly established himself as one of the club’s brightest young talents.
His performances earned him a move to the Premier League, where he will continue his development with Fabian Hürzeler’s side.
Speaking after completing the move, Yohanna revealed that Brighton’s proven track record of nurturing young talent was the driving force behind his move from AIK Stockholm.
He believes the club’s philosophy perfectly aligns with his ambitions and attributes.
“I watch Premier League games a lot, so I know the teams that use young players, and Brighton is one of them,” Yohanna said. “They are really good at developing young talents, and I think their style of play will fit me a lot.”
While Yohanna is eager to get started on the south coast, he admitted that leaving AIK was a tough decision.
“I had a lot of good people around me who took care of me. Everyone loved me, so it was difficult to leave.”
He added that he had spoken to Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler prior to agreeing to come to the club.
“He urged me to keep fighting and working hard. I will give everything I have and I really want to win trophies with the team.”
