A 43-year-old Nigerian-British businessman and social media influencer, Igho Ubiribo, has died after reportedly suffering a fatal pulmonary embolism following a penis enlargement procedure in Thailand.
Ubiribo, also known as “Tiny,” “Denisi” and “Ego,” was said to have travelled to Bangkok with his wife, Danielle Allen, for a luxury holiday when he opted for the cosmetic procedure.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine were injected into his penis at an unnamed clinic in March.
After the procedure, Ubiribo and his wife reportedly returned to their Marriott hotel, where they went for a massage.
During the massage, he complained of chest pain and subsequently collapsed twice.
He was rushed to Sukhumvit Hospital by ambulance, where he was initially responsive and able to answer questions.
Allen reportedly told the attending doctors that her husband had recently undergone penis filler injections, prompting the medical team to suspect a pulmonary embolism.
Doctors recommended that he undergo a CT scan, but Ubiribo reportedly lost consciousness before the examination could be conducted.
He was subsequently moved to the intensive care unit, where medical personnel carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation for more than 100 minutes in an attempt to save his life.
However, he died in the early hours of March 6.
A postmortem examination later conducted in the United Kingdom reportedly found cellular material in Ubiribo’s lungs consistent with the hyaluronic acid used in the procedure.
Giving evidence during an inquest at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court, pathologist John du Parcq said the substance recovered from the deceased’s lungs matched the material used in the penis filler treatment.
He said the finding was consistent with a pulmonary embolism and was also in line with the findings of an earlier autopsy conducted in Thailand.
The coroner, Jean Harkin, subsequently concluded that Ubiribo died from a pulmonary embolism caused by the cosmetic procedure.
A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood vessel supplying the lungs becomes blocked. The condition can become life-threatening when blood flow to the lungs is suddenly restricted, placing significant strain on the heart.
During the inquest, information provided by Ubiribo’s London-based primary care doctor indicated that he had previously undergone joint surgery and had been described as pre-diabetic and suffering from gout. However, the doctor reportedly said he had no other major medical conditions.
Hyaluronic acid penis fillers are marketed as a non-surgical method of increasing penile girth. However, medical experts have warned that injectable fillers can cause serious complications.
The procedure can cost thousands of dollars, while the effects of hyaluronic acid fillers are generally temporary, with the substance gradually absorbed by the body over several months.
Beyond his business activities, Ubiribo was known for showcasing his affluent lifestyle on social media and reportedly had about 185,000 followers on Instagram.
He was said to have owned a home in Los Angeles valued at approximately $1.1m and a London apartment worth about $600,000.
Ubiribo married Allen, a fashion designer and socialite, in a lavish ceremony in Zimbabwe in 2022.
Following his death, he was buried in London in a gold coffin reportedly worth more than $600,000.
Afrobeats star Davido, who was described as Ubiribo’s childhood friend, attended the funeral and reportedly spoke about his death.
The case has since renewed concerns over the potential dangers associated with cosmetic penis enlargement procedures involving injectable fillers.

Although hyaluronic acid is commonly used in various cosmetic treatments, Ubiribo’s death highlights the possibility of rare but potentially fatal complications associated with such procedures.
