The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma will on Tuesday in Abuja declare open a Two-day Stakeholder’s Workshop on the Value for Money in Health Spending in Nigeria.
Organized by the Budget Office of the Federal (BOF), in partnership with the Collaborative Africa Budget Reform Initiative (CABRI), the workshop will bring together officials in Nigeria’s budget, finance and health policy ministries/agencies, as well as other relevant development partners and stakeholders,
A statement by Mr Afolabi Ajuwon, from the Budget Office in Abuja on Sunday, said the stakeholders will “discuss how funds allocated to the sector could be increased and the use, optimized to improve Nigeria’s health outcomes”.
According to the program of events, the Minister of Health, Prof Isaac Adewole; Director General, Budget Office of the Federation, Mr. Ben Akabeze, the Executive Secretary of CABRI and other health and financial experts will make presentations on various topics during the workshop, scheduled to hold at Transcorp Hilton.
Topics lined up for discussion include:*An overview of the Federal Government’s allocation to the health sector over recent years *The challenges of increasing the allocation to health *Some of the steps taken to increase the allocation to health as part of the Building PFM Capabilities Program*How resources are allocated to States, New Sources of FinancingPresentation,*Innovative financing policies, programs and tools for the health sector*Enhancing Value for Money in Health Spending: The Way Forward.
