A Lagos court has remanded Stephen Okparea in custody over allegations of defiling a 14-year-old girl.
He was arraigned on Wednesday before the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.
Okparea pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him by the Lagos State Government.
Prosecuting counsel Dare Dada told the court that the offence allegedly occurred in March 2023 at Ago-Owu Street, Shogunle, Lagos.
According to Mr. Dada, the defendant engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor, an act that violates Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
Justice Rahman Oshodi ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until July 8 for trial to begin.
