The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 45-year-old teacher, Stella Nwadigbo, on charges of indecent treatment and assault of a child.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Thursday.

According to the statement, Nwadigbo was arraigned at Magistrate Court 1, Ogba, on January 9, 2025. She was caught on video allegedly assaulting a three-year-old pupil at a primary school in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The police revealed that after receiving the viral video, the Family Support Unit of the Ikorodu Police Division swiftly arrested the suspect on January 8, 2025.

She was later transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command Headquarters for further investigation. The victim has since been taken to a medical facility for proper care.

The court has remanded Nwadigbo to Kirikiri Correctional Facility pending the continuation of the hearing scheduled for February 18, 2025.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, commended the public for promptly reporting the incident. He assured residents and visitors of the Command’s commitment to ensuring safety and swift responses to such cases.
