Three Nigerian nationals have been arrested in Mwaliko Estate, Mwea Town, Kenya, over their alleged involvement in a cyber fraud network.
The suspects — identified as Peter Chukwujekwu, Alazor Chukulute Sunday, and Nnalue Chiagozie Samwe — were apprehended on Wednesday during a joint security operation led by Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
According to a report by Tuko News on Thursday, the arrest followed complaints from residents who noticed suspicious late-night activities in the suspects’ apartment.
The DCI, in a statement, confirmed that the men were arrested in “a well-coordinated multi-agency raid targeting a cyber fraud ring,” noting that the operation dismantled an elaborate scheme believed to have been run from the estate.
The suspects, who reportedly claimed they were operating an online business, were also found to be living in Kenya without valid documentation and lacked the work permits required for foreign nationals conducting business in the country.
The development comes amid an ongoing crackdown on cybercrime and other offences involving foreign nationals in Kenya.
In a similar operation in June 2023, Kenyan police arrested 19 Nigerians in Nairobi over alleged electronic fraud targeted at Kenyan residents.
The DCI had disclosed that the group operated by befriending victims on Facebook and luring them with promises of gift packages purportedly being shipped through DHL.

The agency said the fraudsters typically used friendly online chats to deceive victims and ultimately swindle them under the pretence of facilitating the delivery of items from abroad.
