The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has provided a different account of the events leading to her death, claiming that the actress repeatedly said she would die on the day she eventually passed away.
Osoba’s maternal aunt, Pejuola Ogunesan, made the revelation during a Sunday interview with actor Kunle Afod alongside another relative, Dupe.
The disclosure comes amid growing controversy over the circumstances surrounding the actress’ death, particularly following claims made by her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko.
Pejuola said Osoba reached out to her despite their strained relationship and expressed fear that she would not survive the day. According to her, the actress also alleged that Onadeko had told her that her obituary would be published that same day.
Pejuola explained that she and Osoba had stopped communicating after the actress left Evercare Hospital in Lekki in 2023 while undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
She said Osoba had become upset after the family allegedly took her phone away to enable her concentrate on her surgery and subsequently blocked several relatives.
“We tried calling her and discovered that she had blocked all of us. Since then, I swore never to have anything to do with her again. I called my elder sister, whom she had also called, and we headed for the police station where she was,” she said.
According to Pejuola, Osoba identified her and her sister as her aunts when they arrived at the station.
The aunt said the actress had been experiencing disturbing dreams and complaining about seeing monsters and her fiancé. She said Osoba planned to visit a prophetess, Kehinde Osoba, for spiritual intervention.
“She (Temitope) would complain of not being able to sleep, seeing monsters and the fiancé. Now that Aunty Peju is here, she would die. She mentioned that the fiancé had told her that they would post her obituary that day,” Pejuola said.
She further alleged that Osoba jumped out of a vehicle after officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority stopped a vehicle in front of them.
According to her, the actress told an official that she did not know where she was being taken and requested that they be taken to a police station.

Prompt News reports Pejuola said Osoba subsequently made several allegations against Onadeko, including claims that she had been humiliated and abused. She also alleged that the actress claimed the prophet had relationships with other women and instructed her to leave his home and make it appear as though they had separated.
The aunt said Osoba eventually stayed with her hairstylist and told her family that she had suffered three miscarriages, despite allegedly being advised not to become pregnant for five years following her surgery.
Pejuola said the family later contacted the prophetess Osoba wanted to visit, but the woman reportedly asked them not to bring the actress to her church and promised to pick her up after her programme.
However, after waiting for hours, they reportedly found the church locked and were unable to reach the prophetess.
The family subsequently took Osoba to another church, where prayers were offered after she became increasingly distressed.
“She was just saying that the guy said she would die today,” Pejuola added.
The aunt said Osoba later stayed with the family, but her condition deteriorated. She reportedly made a social media post titled “Ogo tuntun” (new glory), sent messages to several people and complained about feeling uncomfortable.
When her condition worsened, the family took her to hospital. Pejuola said they were referred to Ogun State University Teaching Hospital.
“When we got there, they referred us to OSUTH. Suddenly, she just defecated in the car. Her head suddenly dropped. Before we could get to the emergency, she was confirmed dead,” she said.
The family’s account differs from statements previously made by Onadeko, who disputed several allegations surrounding Osoba’s death and claimed he was informed that she died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The conflicting accounts have continued to fuel questions about the actress’ final movements and the events that occurred before her death.
Osoba died at the age of 40 and is scheduled to be buried in Iperu-Remo, Ogun State.
