The Nigeria Police Force has rescued a Ghanaian national, Sammed Iddrisu, who was allegedly trafficked into Nigeria under false pretences of securing travel documents for migration to Europe.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed in a statement on Tuesday via the police’s official X account that Iddrisu was rescued on June 27, 2025, in Abuja by operatives of the FCT Police Command in collaboration with INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja.
According to the statement, Iddrisu arrived in Abuja on June 25 after being deceived by a suspect named Attah, who had promised to help him obtain a French visa.
Investigations revealed that his father, Mr. Nartey Louda, paid GHC 55,000 to the suspect on January 10, 2025, for the supposed processing of the documents.
Adejobi explained that the rescue operation followed actionable intelligence received from INTERPOL NCB Accra, Ghana, on June 16.
He warned the public to be cautious of fraudulent travel schemes, urging individuals to verify offers through legitimate diplomatic channels and report suspicious activities to law enforcement.
