Controversial street-pop singer Portable has fired back at social media activist VeryDarkMan, following the latter’s criticism of Afrobeats stars Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.
In a viral video posted on X Thursday, Portable defended the music icons after VeryDarkMan accused them of flaunting luxury while doing little to support the masses during a time of economic hardship.
VeryDarkMan had earlier taken to Instagram, alleging that the trio spent billions on flashy cars for show and questioned their real contributions to society.

He also took aim at Burna Boy, accusing the Grammy winner of abandoning activism since achieving wealth.
Responding to the claims, Portable labeled the comments as unfair and misleading. He insisted that the Big 3 have all given back in their own ways, citing his own personal experiences with their generosity.
“VeryDarkMan you’ve come again. Remember we begged for you to be freed. We don’t know what you did—maybe you were involved in money laundering or kidnapping—we don’t know. Be careful of whatever you say,” Portable warned.
He went on to say, “You said Wizkid, Burna Boy that gave me N20 million—you said they’re not helping people but buying cars. Buy anything you want to buy on time, enjoy your life. Even if these people carry N100 billion and share N100k to people, they’ll finish it and still request for more. Nigeria is not angry, it’s you (VeryDarkMan) that’s hungry.”
He didn’t stop there, making it personal: “You were drinking pure water before, didn’t you buy Benz? The money Don Jazzy gave you—the audio money—where’s it? What did you do with it? How many schools have you built and how many houses? How many imam have you sent to Mecca? Now you’re talking about pastors.”
The clash between Portable and VeryDarkMan has sparked widespread reactions online, fueling renewed discussions about celebrity wealth, public accountability, and whether critics of fame are themselves walking the talk.
