Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has advised single women to be deliberate when choosing a life partner, stressing that being wanted by someone should not be the only reason to accept a relationship or marriage proposal.
Adegbite shared the advice in a recent episode of her podcast, which was posted on her YouTube channel.
The actress noted that some women accept men who are ready for marriage simply because those men have chosen them, without first considering whether they are compatible or whether the relationship meets their needs.
She encouraged women to focus on finding partners with whom they can build a healthy and supportive relationship, regardless of their age difference.
“Ladies, don’t choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you; whether he’s younger, older or exactly your age, the question is always: Can we love, support, and build with each other?
“Because at the end of the day, we are not looking for numbers. We are looking for a partner. And if that partner happens to be younger, that is also fine,” she said.
Prompt News reports Adegbite further addressed older women who receive marriage or relationship proposals from younger men, warning them against making their decision based solely on the younger man’s interest in them.
According to her, women should instead examine the character, emotional maturity and intentions of the prospective partner before committing to a relationship.
She urged older women to consider whether a younger man respects them, supports their goals and can provide the emotional security needed to build a lasting relationship.
“To the older woman, if a younger man is interested in you, please don’t make the mistake of choosing him because he makes you feel desirable. Choose him because he respects, supports, and makes you feel safe.
