Former international Ifeanyi Udeze has blasted the home-based Super Eagles for their poor display against Senegal, Prompt News reports.
Eric Chelle’s side lost 1-0 to defending champions Senegal in their first game at the 2024 African Nations Championship on Tuesday.
The Eagles put up a lacklustre display in the Group D encounter.
Udeze said the players played only to impress scouts against the Senegalese.
The former West Bromwich Albion defender also tasked Chelle to psyche his players up ahead of their next game.
“Eric Chelle must now play the role of a psychologist, he needs to tell the players to play as a team and stop playing individual football because this is a tournament,” Udeze said on Brila FM.
“They see this tournament as an opportunity to sell themselves to foreign clubs.”
Nigeria currently occupy bottom spot in Group D with zero point.
The Eagles will face Sudan in their next game at the Amman Stadium, Zanzibar next week Tuesday.
