Alex Oyowah can’t hide his excitement after claiming the Man of the Match award in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Congo on Tuesday, Prompt News reports.
Oyowah made his first appearance at the 2024 African Nations Championship against the Congolese, and he put up an impressive display.
Anas Yusuf, and Sikiru Alimi got the goals for Éric Chelle’s side but it was the 20-year-old that caught the eye with his superb performance.
The Rivers United player shared his feelings after the game.
“I feel very proud to have been named Man of the Match in our game against Congo,” Oyowah was quoted by CAFonline.
“This is like two opportunities, one for me and one for Nigeria. This is my first match and our last in the group, and we were able to win.”
Nigeria will now head home with pride after picking their first win at the CHAN 2024 finals.
They finished third in Group D with three points from three games.
