Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reached out to her colleague Mercy Johnson with a public apology, putting an end to a long-running dispute that had attracted both online attention and legal scrutiny.
The apology comes weeks after Okorie was released from custody, following her arrest by Lagos state’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and subsequent remand at the Suleja correctional centre over alleged cyber-related offences linked to the disagreement.
The conflict initially started last year when Okorie made claims that Johnson was battling “an ailment I do not wish on my enemies” and accused her of hypocrisy, arguing that Johnson’s public use of religious language did not align with her private conduct. Johnson responded briefly on social media but chose to disengage from the public back-and-forth.
In an Instagram video, Okorie expressed regret for her past actions and extended her apologies to Johnson and her family, attributing the feud to misinformation and gossip circulating within the film industry.
“This video is specifically for Mercy, her kids and family. You know when we were getting older, a lot of things would leave you. When we growing in the industry, a lot of people would come and tell me that Mercy said and some people would tell Mercy that Angela said,” she explained.
“There have been issues, quarrels, chaos, loggerheads and at this age, I do not think that this is what I want. The only thing I want right now is money, business. If you have business, please call me. I am no longer listening to those cheap gossips.”
She added that her previous comments about Johnson online were regrettable and did not reflect the truth about her colleague.

“I just want to apologise to you. If it is just my words, if it is the words that I have written anytime your name pops up on social media, I am deeply sorry. You are not a witch, you are not what people are calling you,” Okorie said.
Prompt News reports Okorie also highlighted the impact of their feud on their children, noting her concern over bullying that Johnson’s children faced because of the online dispute.
“This is just to say I am sorry, we do not know where our kids would meet each other tomorrow. They might be best of friends. These kids have been traveling far and wide, they can meet anywhere in the world. I do not like the fact that they call my sis kids witches in school and they bully them. If they do it to my child, I would not take it. So this is to say I am sorry, deeply sorry for everything.”
