The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), has disclosed that investigations into the alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu are still ongoing.
Musa made this known on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, saying the Department of State Services and the National Intelligence Agency were working to establish the full details surrounding the alleged plot.
According to the minister, those suspected of being involved have already been brought before the court and are currently facing trial.
He maintained that the alleged plan was genuine, stressing that preliminary investigations had established that the suspects intended to seize control of government.
Musa, however, said the intelligence agencies were being cautious in releasing information, as they wanted to complete their investigations before making further disclosures.
He said, “The DSS is still investigating together with the NIA, and they don’t want to just say things they are not sure of. So, I’m sure they’re taking their time to ensure that they get the details.”
The minister added that the matter was now before the judiciary, noting that the government could not interfere with the ongoing court process.
He said, “They’ve taken them to court, so it’s still with the court. It’s not with us. It was real, and they actually wanted to do it for whatever reason.”
