Family, friends and colleagues from Nigeria’s film industry gathered in Arochukwu, Abia State, on Thursday to bid farewell to late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo.
The actor died on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40 following a battle with metastatic kidney cancer.
A funeral service and reception were held at the Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village before his final interment at the family residence in Arochukwu.
Videos circulating online showed emotional scenes as his casket arrived at the venue, with grieving family members and colleagues in attendance to pay their last respects.
Notable personalities present included IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, AY Makun, Ini Edo, Nancy Isime, Bimbo Ademoye and businessman Obi Cubana.
Prompt News reports after the public ceremony, the procession moved to the family compound where he was laid to rest according to family arrangements.

The burial followed earlier funeral rites, including a service of songs held in Lagos on June 10, where tributes were shared by loved ones and industry colleagues.
A wake-keep was also held on Wednesday, June 17, at the family residence on Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue in Aziukwukwa Ujari Village, ahead of the final burial.
