The Confederation of African, Football, CAF, has described as unacceptable the inappropriate behaviors of some players and officials during the final game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations between hosts Morocco and Senegal, Prompt News reports.
Senegalese players and their officials protested vehemently after the hosts were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time.
They left the pitch in annoyance, and it took the intervention of striker Sadio Mane to bring them back on.
The penalty was missed by Brahim Diaz, while substitute Pape Gueye netted the winning goal for Senegal in extra time.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers,” reads a statement on their official website.
“CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.”
