Spain head coach David Aznar says his team are aiming to make a strong start when they face Nigeria’s Falconets in their opening game at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, Prompt News Online reports.
The 2018 champions will begin their campaign against the Falconets at the Arena Sosnowiec on Monday (today), with the highly anticipated clash scheduled for 5pm Nigerian time.
Spain boast a talented squad featuring several players who represented the country at the 2024 and 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups.
Aznar, however, insists his side will approach the tournament with ambition and a clear desire to lift the trophy.
“We’re always ambitious. We’re Spain and we want to win everything. We’ll approach the tournament as we always do – with humility and by taking it one game at a time,” Aznar told FIFA.com.
“That said, we believe we have a competitive team and have complete faith in this group. Our ambitions are high and we will go to the World Cup aiming to win it.”
Spain will hope to translate their confidence into a positive result against the Falconets in what promises to be an exciting opening encounter.
