Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps have arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged murder and secret burial of a woman identified as Hannah, an indigene of Kebbi State.
The suspects were apprehended following an intelligence led operation carried out by officers attached to the Ovia North East Local Government Area command and tactical unit.
Parading the suspects in Benin City on Thursday, the Deputy Corps Commander in charge of Operations, Richard Balogun, alleged that the victim’s boyfriend, identified as Daddy Alli, a native of Taraba State, conspired with others to kill the woman before secretly burying her body.
According to Balogun, investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly transported the victim’s remains to an uncompleted building, where they buried her in what authorities believe was an attempt to conceal the crime and frustrate investigations.
He disclosed that the suspects have been handed over to the Ekiadolor Police Division for further investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
Balogun also revealed that another suspect, identified simply as Dada, is currently on the run, adding that security operatives have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.
The deputy corps commander further stated that the arrested suspects confessed to their involvement in the alleged crime during preliminary investigations.
