Nigeria’s D’Tigress ended their 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup campaign with a heavy 111–56 defeat to France in their final Group game.
The African champions, coached by Rena Wakama, had already been eliminated from the competition after losing their opening two fixtures against South Korea and Hungary.
D’Tigress suffered a 99–81 defeat to South Korea before narrowly falling 71–68 to Hungary.
France dominated proceedings from the start, racing to a 31–13 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Europeans continued their impressive display in the second period, taking a commanding 65–26 advantage into halftime.
Nigeria struggled to find their rhythm after the break as France added another 30 points in the third quarter before closing out the game with 16 points in the final period.
D’Tigress finished with 56 points, scoring 13 in each of the first three quarters before improving slightly with 17 points in the fourth.
The defeat brought Nigeria’s disappointing group-stage campaign to a close, with D’Tigress unable to secure a victory in their three games.
