Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has been named Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Week after inspiring New England Revolution to a convincing victory over D.C. United, Prompt News Online reports.
Yusuf was the star of the show as the Revs claimed a 3-0 win at Audi Field on Wednesday, scoring all three goals in the encounter.
The victory also brought an end to New England Revolution’s three-game winless run.
The Nigeria international opened the scoring in the first half before finding the net again before the break to give Marko Mitrović’s side a commanding advantage.
Yusuf completed his hat-trick six minutes after the hour mark to put the result beyond the hosts.
The midfielder has now scored five goals and provided two assists in 20 league appearances this season.
New England Revolution sit fourth in the Eastern Conference standings with 33 points from 20 matches.
The Revs will return to action on Sunday when they welcome New York City FC to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
