            By Tony Obiechina Abuja

Nigeria’s Military and Security architecture may soon experience a rejig as Casade Defence Systems, a Nigeria firm and Viettel High Technology, a renowned Vietnam defence and communication Company have entered into a ground-breaking partnership to introduce Viettel Firearms Training Simulation System in the Country.

In a chat with journalists in Abuja after the signing ceremony of the partnership in Vietnam, President of the Casade Defence Systems, Professor John Ifediora noted that the system involves the Tactical shooting range Simulation and Mission planning simulation all rolled into one.

According to him, the Viettel Firearms Training Simulation System is an integrated solution designed to address both basic and advanced firearms training, from technique refinement to tactical decision-making, in a safe and controllable virtual environment.

He explained that the full version of the system includes two major subsystems: The Techniques firearms training subsystem and Tactics firearms training subsystem.

He said both subsystems share the same softwares and databases, and use real weapons equipped with tetherless recoil kits to enhance weapon handling skills with realistic force feedback.

He further explained that the versatile subsystems can be separated to create customised versions catered to different customers’ needs, adding that Nigeria will stand to gain immensely in tackling it’s current security and defence challenges by enabling security personnel to train as often as needed to improve marksmanship since the system does not use live ammunition.’

Speaking further on feature of the systems especially the Recoil kit, Professor Ifediora said  “the provided tetherless recoil kit simulates realistic recoil force using high pressure CO2 gas, adding that  no actual weapon parts are modified, and the weapon equipped with recoil kit and other hardware like the laser emitter still retains similar weight, center of mass and dimensions, and also preserves the original hammering mechanism.

The erudite Professor noted that the tetherless gas canister installed within the magazine is safe and easy to reload.

He said Nigeria and other African countries will reap the benefits of the techniques training subsystem, which  allow trainees to practice with recoil-kit-assembled real fire arms, applying the same processes and techniques as field-training with realistic feedbacks, stressing that the high precision bullet trajectory calculation and laser detection method ensure sufficient accuracy, allowing shooting up to 1200m with sniper rifle.

On the Tactical training Subsystem,  Prof Ifediora said the  subsystem applies virtual reality techs (VR) to create a comprehensive training solution for teamwork and tactical decision-making enhancement.

He said  trainees are equipped with VR headsets, full-body tracking gears, and up to 2 tracked weapons, allowing free movements and interactions in a designated space.

According to him, their movements are mirrored by controllable 3D avatars, which can be observed by other trainees, trainers or guests.

Explaining the rationale for Simulation and Instructor Software, Ifediora noted that both subsystems share the same softwares, providing limitless scenario creations and customizations.

He added that  Instructors can select training areas, plan hostages, allied and enemy troops, and assign specific actions for each character, stressing that the system also supports customizable environmental conditions including environmental effects on bullet trajectories.

He said Nigeria and other African countries would benefit greatly by switching to this modern training system currently used by militaries and security personnel in Europe, Asia, and the US, as the training and simulation system deploy multiple types of data, to analyze and evaluate each trainee actions and behaviors.

He said the package also include Virtual Sand

Table System 4.0 supports tactical planning in accordance with determined combat plans on 2D / 3D digital maps, and supports report and presentation combined with sound, images and documents, in order to show the situations of enemies and allies, intention and operational plan of the commander, as the system is in service of tactical training, tactical maneuvers, and command staff maneuvers.
