Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles have been handed a second-round clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, Prompt News Online reports.
DR Congo advanced after overcoming Mauritania 2-1 on aggregate in the opening round.
The Leopards went down 1-0 in the first leg in Nouakchott but bounced back strongly at home, claiming a 2-0 victory in the return leg to overturn the deficit.
Mabete and Candidat Mapendo scored the decisive goals for Guy Bukasa’s side as DR Congo secured their passage to the next round.
The first leg of the second-round tie will take place at the TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi on Monday, November 9, 2026, with DR Congo hosting the U-23 Eagles.
Nigeria will host the return leg on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, although the venue for the fixture is yet to be confirmed.
