Many clubs in the Championship are scrambling for Frank Onyeka as Brentford work on January exits.
In the race to sign the midfielder are Sheffield United, Frank Lampard’s Coventry and Valencia, STANDARD UK reports.
Brentford have already signed 18-year-old forward Kaye Furo from Club Brugge this month. They remain open to opportunities for the remainder of January but are already sitting pretty in seventh place in the Premier League under Keith Andrews.
Onyeka is one player who could be on the move, though. The midfielder has just been away at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he played four times for Nigeria, who finished third.
The 28-year-old has made just six appearances in the league this season but no starts, and Brentford are open to selling him or loaning him out with an option to buy.
The midfielder wants more game time and is not seen as being part of the long-term future at the Gtech Community Stadium, who last week handed a new four-and-a-half-year contract to fellow midfielder Vitaly Janelt. The German is viewed internally as having become a more important player at the club this season.
Brentford are keen on loaning out Brazilian 20-year-old Gustavo Nunes or 24-year-old English midfielder Paris Maghoma.
Standard Sport understands they are also open to sending a goalkeeper out on a six-month loan for more first-team experience.
