Veteran Nigerian TV host Morayo Afolabi-Brown has revealed her personal battle with depression, admitting that she once had suicidal thoughts.
In a candid interview with Chude, Brown, who recently stepped down as host of TVC’s Your View after 12 years, said that feeling trapped in her career played a major role in her mental health struggles.
“I was depressed. At a point, I was suicidal. I walked on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad,” she confessed.
Brown explained that she had long considered leaving the show to move into a new phase of her career but struggled with how to make that transition. “It was when we [TVC] were ten years that I knew that it was time [for me] to go to the next thing. I have been harbouring that thought for a while but I didn’t know how to go about it. But last year, I got that light-bulb moment,” she added.
Her revelation highlights the unseen pressures faced by media personalities, showing that even accomplished careers cannot shield anyone from mental health challenges.
