Nigerian music star Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as Iyanya, has urged the public to be more empathetic toward celebrities, noting that fame does not shield them from emotional or mental battles.
In a reflective post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, the Your Waist crooner described fame as “a double-edged sword,” highlighting the unseen struggles that often accompany public admiration.
“We need to understand that celebrities are human with deep emotions and struggles like everyone else.
Beyond the glamorization is simply a person simply wishing to be human like the rest of us,” he wrote.
Iyanya went further to address the silent burdens male celebrities carry, noting that societal expectations often make it harder for men in the spotlight to express their pain or ask for help.

“For male celebrities, it is always difficult to bounce back after hitting a low point because men are wired to be stoic and not show vulnerability, not to ask for help for fear of being seen as weak,” he added.
The singer’s message comes amid growing conversations about mental health in the entertainment industry, with many stars becoming more open about the pressures that come with fame.
Iyanya’s candid words have since resonated with fans, many of whom commended him for shedding light on an issue often overlooked behind the glitz and glamour of celebrity life.
