A Nigerian pastor Ukpa Light has come out strongly in defence of Salvation Ministries’ founder, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, while calling out social commentator VeryDarkMan for what he described as baseless attacks against revered men of God.
In a passionate sermon, the clergyman questioned VeryDarkMan’s credibility and societal contributions, insisting that the activist lacks the moral authority to speak against spiritual leaders who have impacted countless lives over the years.
“One person calls himself a VeryDarkMan that has no record, has done nothing significant in society,” he said. “He comes and tells me that David Ibiyeomie is not a man of God because he has a phone and ring light to talk.”

Ukpa recounted personal experiences with books written by prominent pastors, noting how works by Bishop David Ibiyeomie and Bishop David Abioye once played a life-changing role during a difficult period in his life.
“In less than four hours of reading Bishop Ibiyeomie’s book, I received life. Over ten years ago, his words were like fire in my bones,” he said. “I also read ‘Understanding Divine Direction’ by Bishop Abioye—less than a thousand naira—and my life took a new direction.”
The preacher challenged VeryDarkMan’s track record, asking how many lives he has positively influenced or transformed.
“You are talking to fathers and say we should be quiet?” he questioned. “These men are fathers in the faith. You don’t run your mouth against them and expect silence.”
Taking a swipe at what he described as inconsistencies in the activist’s public conduct, Ukpa Light criticised the blending of moral advocacy with controversial behaviour.
“Somebody that talks about government today, and tomorrow is posting himself holding the bum bum of a lady. And as a Christian you follow him?” he asked. “The devil isn’t stupid—he mixes truth with lies to pollute your spirit.”
He warned Christians to remain spiritually discerning, emphasising that the devil’s tactics are subtle yet effective.
“The devil is over 2,000 years old; he came for Jesus, so don’t be ignorant of his devices,” the pastor stated, quoting Apostle Paul. “God is coming for a perfect church without spot or wrinkle.”
His remarks come amid ongoing conversations on social media about the role of influencers and activists in shaping public opinion on religious, moral, and political issues.
