The Federal Capita Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested Abubakar Idris, also known as Nishi, a suspected gang leader, and his accomplices for the murder of Ibrahim Danfulani, allegedly over a marriage-related dispute.
In a statement issued on Monday, the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the tragic event occurred on November 27, 2024.
According to the statement, Nishi was angered by Ibrahim’s intention to marry a woman he had invested heavily in and decided to take drastic action.
Investigations revealed that Nishi, alongside two accomplices, attacked Ibrahim Danfulani with knives, leading to his death.
After the murder, the suspects reportedly stole 18 cows belonging to the victim, which they claimed was compensation for Nishi’s perceived financial losses.
SP Adeh further stated that Nishi fled the scene but was later tracked and apprehended in Nasarawa State.
At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly planning to recruit new members for a plot to harm the woman involved in the dispute.
She said, “Through a coordinated effort between the FCT Police Command and residents of the Agaita community in Karu, all suspects were apprehended. They are now in custody and will be prosecuted to ensure justice is served.”
The police reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to report any suspicious activities. Citizens can reach out to the command through emergency lines: 08061581938, 08032003913, 08028940883, CRU: 08107314192, and PCB: 09022222352.
