Former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has dismissed speculation that he may contest Nigeria’s presidency, saying he has no intention of seeking the nation’s highest political office.
Speaking during an interview on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, the All Progressives Congress chieftain said he was satisfied with life outside public office and had no desire to return to the political spotlight.
Responding to a question on whether he would consider a presidential bid, Fashola said he was already “president” in his own home, adding that he had fulfilled his public service ambitions.
He noted that serving in government had been a rare privilege, especially at a relatively young age, and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to look back on his years in office with satisfaction.
According to him, life after public service has been less demanding, allowing him to enjoy more rest and spend time on activities that were difficult to accommodate while in office.
Fashola explained that the pressures associated with government service often left little room for personal comfort, but he now has the opportunity to live at a more relaxed pace.
The former governor also disclosed that he remains active within the APC as a member of the Governance Advisory Council, where he attends meetings and offers advice to the government and other stakeholders.

He, however, stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between providing guidance and interfering in the affairs of those currently occupying public office.
