The Adamawa State Police Command is investigating two separate cases of domestic violence that led to the deaths of two individuals in Madagali and Gombi Local Government Areas.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the first incident occurred in the Pallam District of Madagali, where a 16-year-old boy allegedly killed his stepmother during a domestic dispute.

The police said a confrontation had erupted between two co-wives, Rhoda Anthony, 55, and Victoria Anthony, 36—both married to one Anthony Pallam.

In the heat of the altercation, Victoria’s son, identified as Ijai Anthony, reportedly struck Rhoda on the head with a wooden object.

“Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Madagali swiftly mobilised officers to the scene.

The victim was rushed to the Cottage Hospital, where she was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment,” the statement read.

The teenager and his mother have since been taken into protective custody, pending further investigation.

In a separate incident in Fotta District, Gombi Local Government Area, a man identified as Idi Buba was arrested for allegedly stabbing his biological father, Buba Jelli, during a domestic altercation.

Police said the suspect attacked his father with a knife, inflicting fatal wounds to his neck and back.

The victim was rushed to the Primary Health Care Centre in Fotta but succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention.

The suspect was arrested at the scene, and the weapon used in the attack has been recovered as evidence.

Reacting to the incidents, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, condemned the rising cases of domestic violence, particularly those involving family members.

He urged residents to seek peaceful and lawful methods of resolving disputes, warning against taking the law into their own hands.
