The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to resist any efforts by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to regain power, warning that such a shift would lead to severe consequences for the country.
Bala Ibrahim, the APC’s National Publicity Director, made the statement while speaking to journalists, emphasizing that the lasting effects of the PDP’s 16 years in power are still visible across the nation.
Ibrahim highlighted that the APC has demonstrated better leadership and has been more capable in addressing Nigeria’s challenges than the opposition party.
“Nigeria continues to face the aftermath of the PDP’s misrule over the past 16 years,” he remarked. “People seem to overlook the damage left behind. Are we seriously thinking about giving these individuals another opportunity to harm the nation? This is only the beginning, I assure you.”
He criticized the PDP as “incompetent,” pointing to the party’s ongoing internal struggles as evidence of its failure to provide effective leadership.
Ibrahim also rejected suggestions that the APC was to blame for the PDP’s internal issues, questioning how the ruling party could be held accountable for the opposition’s troubles.
“We have no connection to their problems. What gives them the right to blame us for their leadership crisis?” he said.
In closing, Ibrahim suggested that the PDP could benefit from the example set by the APC’s Progressive Institute, a training initiative launched by the party’s national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje. “If the PDP wants to learn how to engage in politics without acrimony, they should come and learn from us,” he concluded.
