Organisers of The Headies have postponed the 18th edition of the Nigerian music awards, announcing that the ceremony will now hold in Toronto, Canada, on April 10 and 11, 2027.
The event was initially scheduled to take place this year, but the organisers said the adjustment would allow them to expand activities in Nigeria and Canada before the main ceremony.
The announcement was made on the awards’ official Instagram page, where the organisers explained that the additional programme would lead up to the Toronto finale.
“The road to the 18th Headies continues. We’re expanding the programme in Nigeria and Canada ahead of our Toronto finale, now scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027,” the statement read.
The organisers also disclosed that activities under the Road to The Headies programme would continue during the period originally set aside for the event.
They said further information about the activities would be communicated through the awards’ official platforms.
Prompt News reports the postponement has also prompted an apology to guests who had already made travel arrangements to attend the ceremony.
