Super Falcons interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen has praised his team’s performance following their 2-0 victory over Comoros in the first leg of the second qualifying round for the 2028 Olympic Games.
The 10-time African champions secured the win with two second-half goals from Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu.
Despite the victory, Eguavoen admitted he was nervous at half-time after both teams failed to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes.
Speaking at the post-match briefing, the coach acknowledged the challenges of playing away from home but maintained that the quality of his squad made victory a reasonable expectation.
“I was nervous at the start because it’s an away game. A draw away from home would be good, but for our pedigree and the quality we have, forget the names of the countries, we played them with utmost respect. But the first half ending barren at 0-0 was worrisome,” Eguavoen said.
The Super Falcons will now turn their attention to the second leg, which is scheduled to take place at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, as they look to secure progress to the next round of the qualifiers.
