Grammy-winning Beninese music icon Angélique Kidjo has joined forces with Nigerian star Ayra Starr on a new single titled ‘Aye Kan’ (Are You Coming Back?).
The track serves as an early release from Kidjo’s forthcoming album Hope, which is scheduled to drop on April 24, 2026, under Warner Records.
‘Aye Kan’ blends the unique styles of both artistes, with Kidjo delivering her signature mix of jazz, funk, pop, and soul, while Ayra Starr adds her Afrobeats and R&B flair. The collaboration highlights a fusion of generations and sounds, celebrating African music in a modern way.
Running for just over three minutes, the song opens with a rich choral introduction by both singers before transitioning into its rhythmic core. Performed in Yoruba, Beninese, and English, the track effortlessly bridges different cultures and languages.
Lyrically, the song explores themes of love and longing, as a woman expresses both confidence and emotional vulnerability.
“Are you coming back or what? I give lovie-lovie Lolo, shey you no notice that I miss ya,” the lyrics read.
