Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stated that he does not need an Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA) to prove his worth in the film industry.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, Edochie dismissed the idea that not winning the award diminishes his reputation as an actor, insisting that his value is not determined by industry recognition alone.
He argued that the opinion of a small group of judges should not define his career achievements.
“You cannot contest it. Performances that I have dropped four, five, six years ago no actor has been able to replicate it till date,” he boasted.
While saying he would not claim to be the greatest out of respect for his father, he maintained that his work speaks for itself.
“I am one of the greatest. So I will not wait until AMVCA calls me. Call anybody you want to call. I do not have any problem with them,” he said.
He added that he has never been one to publicly complain about awards or recognition.
“Have you seen me rant on social media before? A group of people gathered to say this is who they are giving to. I am not bothered.”
Prompt News reports Edochie emphasized that his priority is consistently delivering strong performances in every role he takes.
“Anywhere I found myself I will keep doing well. Any movie you keep me, I will do my best and drop a fantastic performance. Put it on any hood you like; that is your business,” he said.

He further noted that public opinion does not influence his self-worth or career direction.
“Your like or attitude towards me does not concern me. I am always concerned about taking positive moves. I have fans from all over the world.
“My worth is not determined by you. My worth is determined by God. It is determined by the amount of work that I put in and the viewers.”
