Social commentator and businessman Isaac Fayose has challenged the ruling All Progressives Congress to prove its electoral strength ahead of the 2027 general elections, claiming that the party cannot win in at least three of Nigeria’s 10 states with the highest number of registered voters without rigging.
Fayose made the assertion in a video shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, in which he questioned the APC’s grassroots support and accused the ruling party of relying on its control of federal power rather than genuine popularity among voters.
The states he listed were Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Rivers, Oyo, Delta, Benue, Ogun and Bauchi.
According to him, the APC’s perceived political dominance does not necessarily translate into widespread acceptance among Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots level.
Fayose accused the ruling party of using its control of security agencies and the support of wealthy individuals to project strength, arguing that such influence was not proof of electoral popularity.
“These are the states with the highest votes, Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Rivers, Oyo, Delta, Benue, Ogun and Bauchi States. APC can’t win three out of them without rigging yet they said they are strong,” he said.
He added, “You are strong because you have the police, the army and the rich people but you are not strong on the street. You all are bullies.”
The social commentator also questioned the conditions under which opposition parties were operating ahead of the elections, alleging that they were being prevented from campaigning freely in some areas.
He challenged the APC to demonstrate its electoral strength by allowing a level playing field for all political parties, insisting that a credible election would reveal which political group enjoyed genuine public support.
“If you people are sure of yourself, why not allow free and fair elections? Why are you stopping us from campaigning?” Fayose asked.
“Allow free, fair and credible elections and we will know who is the boss and who is a bully,” he added.
Fayose’s remarks come as political parties and their supporters intensify preparations and exchanges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
