Tobi Amusan has successfully defended her crown at the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championship by claiming gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles, Prompt News reports.
It was Nigeria’s first gold of the Championships.
Team Nigeria’s Adaobi Tabugbo got out brilliantly and held her own, grabbing bronze in a strong battle for the other placements.
Amusan will now shift attention to Saturday’s Diamond League meeting in China.
Team Nigeria won two medals on the opening day of the competition.
The two medals were won in the women’s Discus event.
Divine Oladipo, making her first international appearance for Nigeria, claimed silver in the event.
Obiageri Amaechi sealed Nigeria’s place on the podium by winning the bronze medal.
