She suffered a horrific leg injury during the tension-soaked semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco on Tuesday afternoon, Prompt News reports.
Salgado who was seriously hurt in a goalmouth melee in the South African box 18 in the second half of the fierce contest which Nigeria won 2-1 to qualify for the 13th CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) finals received members of the Super Falcons at a hospital in Casablanca where she is being treated.
Among the Nigerian players who visited the injured player are the Nigerian team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Michelle Alozie, forward Ifeoma Onumonu and reliable defender Ashleigh Plumptre popularly called “Oyinbo”.
A visibly happy Salgado who plays for JVW FC in South Africa was handed an autographed Nigeria team jersey as a token of friendship by her visitors despite all the rivalries, tackles, and infringements on the field, which shows that football is still about friendship, and an injury to one is an injury to all.

The South African ace defender was seen giving a thumbs-up gesture during the visit as the Nigerians wished her a speedy recovery before their departure even as football still remains the beautiful game.
