Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has stated her intention to present evidence to support her sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio at an appropriate time.

While appearing on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme aired on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her claim, saying the evidence would be made public “at the right time and place.”

“In due time, I will provide the evidence I have,” she said during the interview.

This development follows weeks of controversy surrounding her accusations. The senator was suspended from the National Assembly on March 6 over allegations of gross misconduct stemming from a disagreement with Akpabio during a Senate sitting.

After her suspension, Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of making unwanted advances toward her during a visit to his residence in Akwa Ibom State on December 8, 2023.

According to her, the Senate President hinted that she should “take care” of him in exchange for favourable treatment within the Senate.

In response to the allegations, Akpabio denied any wrongdoing. On March 5, he publicly stated that he had never harassed Akpoti-Uduaghan or any other woman, citing his upbringing under a single mother as the foundation of his respect for women.

Akpabio’s wife, Ekaette, also responded by filing several lawsuits against Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of defaming her husband.

During the interview, Akpoti-Uduaghan also addressed her previous claim that the Senate President threatened her life. When asked to provide proof of the allegation, she said, “Let’s get to that bridge.”

She added, “I’ve heard that the Senate President may sue me. Let him go ahead—we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.”

The senator’s remarks have intensified public interest, with many anticipating when the promised evidence will be revealed.
