Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has commiserated with the National Association of Nigerian Student (NANS) over the death of its Senate President, Donald Onukaogu, and four other officials of the association.
The former Vice President said in a statement by his media office on in Abuja yesterday that the death of the NANS officials in a car accident in Abia State was a huge shock.
Atiku noted that it was unfortunate that this tragedy happened when the NANS is beginning to restore its dignity as a pro-student organization, rather than being a tool in the hands of opportunistic politicians.
“I commiserate with the national leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Student (NANS) over the death of Donald Onukaogu, its Senate President and four other officials of the body.
“It is unfortunate that this ugly incident is happening when NAN is re-emerging as a strong body, standing to defend its members,” Atiku said.
He prayed that God grants the souls of the departed into eternal bliss and give the families they left behind the fortitude to bear their loss.
