Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has criticized the federal government for failing to address the worsening economic hardship in the country, lamenting that many citizens have now adapted to suffering as if it were normal.
Speaking during an interview with Madame Joyce in the United Kingdom, Zlatan expressed frustration over the government’s inaction and reflected on British rapper Dave’s recent satire highlighting the contrast between Nigeria’s lavish nightlife and the poverty surrounding it.
“We are used to it [suffering and smiling], that’s how it has always been and the government isn’t doing anything about it,” he said.
The “Zanku” crooner further lamented that while the government has failed to provide meaningful solutions, some beggars have turned street begging into a daily occupation rather than seeking more productive ventures.
