Nigerian superstar Wizkid is officially set to perform at the CANEX 2025 Mega Concert on Friday, September 5, in Algeria, according to announcements from the event organisers on September 2.
The CANEX Mega Concert forms part of the wider CANEX 2025 exhibition, which highlights Africa’s national defence and security industries alongside cultural performances, combining innovation with artistic expression.
The festival will feature leading musicians from Algeria, South Africa, Congo, Kenya, and other African nations, establishing it as a major pan-African music event.
CANEX officials have described Wizkid’s performance as a standout moment of the festival, noting his international appeal. “Renowned for his infectious Afrobeat rhythms, chart-topping hits, and magnetic stage presence, Wizkid has become one of Africa’s most celebrated music icons,” the organisers said.
They added, “At CANEX, his music will bring unmatched energy, signature Afrobeat grooves, and a celebration of African culture that promises to unite audiences and create unforgettable live moments.”

Speculation on social media suggests Wizkid could earn up to ₦6.4 billion ($4.2 million) for the performance, though this has not been officially confirmed by CANEX or the festival organisers.
The figure has been widely circulated online. On Instagram, @tooxclusive_com claimed, “Wizkid has been paid ₦6.4 billion ($4.2 million) for the event,” with @entdaily001 reporting the same.
On X (formerly Twitter), @Jahboy said, “Wizkid will be paid $4.2 million to headline the Carnex Mega Concert on September 5,” while @ChaftsAfrica added, “Wizkid will be paid $4.2 million to headline the Carnex Mega Concert on September 5 in Algiers, Algeria.”
Wizkid’s track record of high-profile performances underscores his global demand. In 2018, he performed at a royal wedding at India’s Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, reportedly earning around 50 million Indian Rupees ($681,200 or roughly ₦245.9 million).
In 2025, he headlined the AIA Sound Festival in Denmark in August, reportedly earning approximately $3 million. His sold-out Madison Square Garden concert in New York on June 7 generated an estimated $1 million in ticket sales, while his shows at London’s O2 Arena and Atlanta’s State Farm Arena reportedly approached $900,000 per performance.
These milestones highlight Wizkid’s rise as one of Africa’s most influential and highly-paid music stars, bridging cultures and continents with his global Afrobeat sound.
